Jalen Brunson Powers New York Knicks to Epic Overtime Win Over Cavs

The New York Knicks delivered one of the most unforgettable playoff comebacks in recent NBA history on Tuesday night, erasing a massive fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-104 in overtime during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Led by superstar guard Jalen Brunson, the Knicks fought back from 22 points down late in the fourth quarter at Madison Square Garden. Brunson finished with 38 points and completely changed the momentum of the game with aggressive drives and clutch baskets during the final minutes.

New York appeared out of rhythm for most of the night and trailed 93-71 with under eight minutes remaining. However, the Knicks suddenly caught fire, going on a huge scoring run while tightening up defensively. Brunson tied the game at 101 with just 19 seconds left in regulation, sending the home crowd into chaos.

The Knicks carried that momentum into overtime, opening the extra period with a dominant 9-0 burst that sealed the victory. Fans inside Madison Square Garden erupted as New York moved three wins away from its first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

Mikal Bridges contributed 18 points, while OG Anunoby added 13 points in his return after missing time with a hamstring injury. Karl-Anthony Towns praised the team’s defensive effort, saying it was the key factor behind the dramatic turnaround.

For Cleveland, Donovan Mitchell scored 29 points, but the Cavaliers struggled badly in the closing minutes. Cleveland was outscored 44-11 after building its large lead and could not recover in overtime. Evan Mobley recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds, while James Harden had a difficult shooting night, finishing with more turnovers than made field goals.

The victory extended New York’s playoff winning streak to eight games and gave the Knicks a crucial advantage heading into Game 2 on Thursday night.
